They have been the most user-centric and privacy focused company with a focus on internet freedom. In the spirit of privacy and freedom for the people, Mozilla has launched a test pilot service called “Send”.Firefox Send can send files a big as 1 GB with an end to end encryption.

Send uses Web Cryptography JavaScript API with the AES-GCM algorithm for client side encryption and is supported by all of the modern browsers. The user uploads the file, it is encrypted and stored in the Mozilla’s Send server. The data is only available for download once or until 24 hours pass by. This is to prevent the files from ending up on the Internet forever.

Mozilla’s Test pilot project offers users to test out new features and modules for the Firefox browser before they are released in the stable release. Most features come in modules, Send however doesn’t need an add-on and works flawlessly on Firefox, Safari, and Chrome.

With Mozilla’s reputation to uphold user’s privacy, you can rest assured that your files aren’t at risk of being stored or breached during transit. And as the files are only available to download once, you can be sure that the file won’t be spread around the internet.
Although, as a test pilot service it may still have some kinks and browser especially need Cryptography JavaScript API to decrypt it so download managers won’t be able to handle the download links. For example, Firefox fork Pale Moon wasn’t able to download the file through Firefox’s Send service. Security and privacy are Mozilla’s primary focus in their products, and Firefox Send is your chance to test out the file sharing privacy like no other.
Test it out and let us know what you think about your expectation and experience with Mozilla Firefox’s Send.
