Most of us don’t like looking into bright screens during evenings and night. Many applications include dark theme by default and can activate them on a schedule. While some browsers also have dark themes, many still don’t allow you to choose a dark theme for the website. This trick will help if you aren’t already using a dark theme or a browser that has the ability to turn the website into a dark mode to search.
Duckduckgo, Startpage, and Qwant are the search engines that allow you to induce dark theme through the URL parameter, so you don’t have to press on the dark theme every time. They are also more privacy oriented search engines. On Android, I use Sesame to create shortcuts, and it allows saving links as shortcuts. I also use Flynx which is a floating browser. This browser doesn’t have many settings, but it opens up a floating browser instead of a full window browser which is faster and more convenient. This trick helps me open a search page with dark mode by default.
To change search engines on Chrome, go to Settings, and then search “search engines”. or you can go directly from “chrome://settings/searchEngines”. Once there, add or edit the search engine you use to use the url parameters for dark them.
For Duckduckgo,
The “kae” URL parameter is used to change the theme. So if you have a browser with a configurable search engine, you can use it to set the dark theme:

For Qwant
The “theme” parameter loads a theme of your choice, set it to 1 for a dark theme:

For Startpage
You have to first open the link to induce the dark theme first and then initiate the search. It doesn’t allow theme and search parameter on the same link.
