There is a new project underway at Android-x86 which plans to port android operating system to Personal Computers. Google’s Android development team has opened up Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0.1) for x86 processors for both Intel and AMD systems. But however the system isn’t quite stable yet and testing is underway. So this is a good news to everyone who’s been facinated with Android for being able to use the operating system on their laptops and computers.
The Android-x86 seems to be much more compatible with AMD systems with WiFi, sound and hardware acceleration working well. But for Intel processors, the OS isn’t quite complete with problems on ethernet, camera and hardware acceration.
You can view more screen-shots of Android-x86 OS here. You can download the Android-x86 for testing purpose at
The downloads are available based on the android version, laptops and manifactures it supports. So if you are a developer and want to try out Android-x86 on your computer or laptop, you can help out testing them.
