Ubuntu has been working on bringing on its Desktop experience on your Android phones. It is called Ubuntu for Android and is currently under development. Ubuntu for Android will let you use a full featured ubuntu desktop while your Android phone is docked( device not available yet) to a bigger screen with keyboards and mouse support. This however seems will only work on multi-core Android phones.

With both mobile and desktop OS on the same device, this could lead users to have better control of their work, contacts and travel. And as mobile phones are easy to carry around, you’ll be able to use it as a Desktop when required at work or home. The Desktop OS will have already synced with your Android contacts, media emails and texts when you switch from Android to a Desktop operating system.

Ubuntu for Android gives mobile workers a compelling reason to upgrade to multi-core handsets with more RAM, more storage, faster GPUs and CPUs. It’s not just a phone they are buying, it’s a desktop too. While mid-range phones can deliver a perfect Android experience, it takes high-end horsepower to drive a phone and a desktop at the same time. Newer multi-core processors are up to the job, and Ubuntu is the killer app for that hot hardware. It’s the must-have feature for late-2012 high-end Android phones.

This can be a huge success considering the use of a single device for multiple purpose is always what people want. And with Android mobile experience and Ubuntu for Desktop you can bet this is going to be a fun project.
