Real Human Flight on Mechanical Wings

This is something really amazing, an engineer team with Jarno Smeets  have successfully engineered and tested a pair of self propelled wings capable of handling human flight to the air like birds. In a video released by the team on YouTube shows the human flight as Jarno Smeets runs with the wings for takeoff and gets airborne and again lands back safely on the ground.

This is the initial run for the take off as he runs to get enough lift to get him off the ground.

The development of the wings took about 8 month and the result have been marvelous and more than worth it. You can read about the progress of this project from the blog with video/pictures and interviews at Human Birdwings.

I did it! This weekend I brought out my wings again for a second test. And here it is. Do I need to say more? Just watch the video
