Fix graphic glitches with Intel Graphics Installer for Ubuntu 14.04

By | 13th November, 2014 | 0 Comments

Intel has released a Intel Graphics Installer for Linux on November 11 that updates your graphics driver stack for Linux operating system automatically. This helps your Linux operating system use the latest updates directly from Intel so that your Intel graphics driver perform at best of their capacity. This is however only available for the Ubuntu 14.04 version and not for 14.10 version yet and also not for Ubuntu derivatives like Linux Mint and others. This will allow the system for much smoother graphic experience with Games and the operating system all together.

Here’s how you install it on your Ubuntu System. Head over to Intel Graphics Installer for Linux download page, and download the package that fits your Ubuntu installation. You need the 32-bit package for 32 bit system and 64-bit package for a system with 64-bit architecture. After you’ve downloaded the package then install it like a regular deb package in your Terminal.

After all the downloads are complete you’ll get a report for all the newly installed and upgraded package. This took a descent time for me like 20 minutes so make sure the system stays up for that long to complete the installation process. You don’t want to mess up the graphics.

The system will notify you to restart your system for the changes to take effect. So it’s recommended that you close all your applications and reboot your machine. And hopefully you’ll get a much better performance from your Intel Graphics driver. I was having some glitches in with my Ubuntu where the icons would get messy after long use, which seems to have fixed for the moment.
