iFixit, a repair company helping users with free online repair manual has recently revealed the hardware teardown of the latest smart phone from Samsung, Samsung Galaxy Nexus. The reveal shows Samsung Galaxy Nexus to contain easily swappable hardware components with easy de-assembling. Samsung Galaxy Nexus gets a 6/10 from iFixit repair-ability ranking, 10 being the highest and easiest to repair.
The pictures from ifixit shows the frames and battery of Samsung Galaxy Nexus are easily removable from the device without any screws and can be done with the use of finger actions. The motherboard is also relatively easy to dissemble with not many components being stuck with it. Unlike Apple, Samsung really wants to you have the opportunity to look at the hardware and easily replace them as well. The only things that seems attached together are the volume switch and the vibrator motor, which makes other parts easily replaceable.
The battery is a 3.7 V, 1750 mAh, and the NFC antenna hides beneath the shiny battery cover. NFC, short for Near Field Communication, is a short range wireless RFID technology that makes use of interacting electromagnetic radio fields instead of the typical direct radio transmissions used by technologies such as Bluetooth.
The reveal also shows that the glass, display, and the frame are fused together and in any cause of breakdown of any of them, it will be a costly repair or replacement. So if you get a Samsung Galaxy Nexus, be sure to take extra care of it’s screen.
