Now Google Maps will allow its users to view a indoor map of some select buildings and airports through the users Android devices. Google maps has been helping users find alot of different place and venues with its direction feature. But once you’re have reached the place, you don’ t necessarily know where to go inside the building to find what you were looking for. Well Google plans to change that by allowing the floor plan view on the popular building locations like airport, shopping mall or retail store.
This will be available on Android devices with the new update to the Google Maps to version 6.0. Then you can browse to a building and zoom on that building. And if the builiding has indoor map data enabled, you’ll be able to view into the details of what is where inside the building floor wise. And as you move up the floor, it is automatically updated on your floor as well. You’ll also be able to your location inside the building.

Google has initially partnered with some of the largest retailers, airports and transit stations in the U.S. and Japan, including:
- Mall of America, IKEA, The Home Depot, select Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s, Daimaru, Takashimaya and Mitsukoshi locations and more.
- Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL), Chicago O’Hare (ORD), San Francisco International Airport (SFO) and Narita International (NRT), among others.
- JR and Tokyu Corporation

This will definitely be easier for users to find what indoor locations are available and get there much faster at the airports or to a store at a shopping center.
