DuckDuckGo : A Universal Search Engine

By | 14th October, 2012 | 0 Comments

DuckDuckGo is a search engine that doesn’t track any of your information online and filters out most of the spammy listings from your searches. DuckDuckGo also offers user to easily search through other search engines like Google, Bing, Youtube and other sites by using specific tags. Which we will be discussing on this article.

DuckDuckGo Tags

I’ve been using DuckDuckGo as a default search engine for a long time and find it very accurate in finding results that you need. And when the results are not what you wanted you can always use tags with (!) site from below which will directly go to the search page of that site. Which i think is the best feature for a search engine, you don’t need to go to the specific site and start the search but can use the same search engine to search through a number of sites and search engines with ease.

Some of the tags that i find most useful are:

For other Search Engines:

!g <keyword> : search the keyword in Google

!b <keyword> : search the keyword in Bing

!y <keyword> : search the keyword in Yahoo

!yt <keyword> : search the keyword in Youtube

Shopping/Product Search:

!a <product> : search for the product in Amazon

!ebay <product> : search for the product in Ebay

Educational Search:

!wiki <keyword> : search the keyword in WikiPedia

!wa <keyword> : search for the keyword in Wolfram Alpha

!answers <keyword> : search for the question in Answers.com

Image Search:

!gi/!img <keyword> : search for the keyword image in Google Images

!bi <keyword> : search for the keyword in Bing Images

So if you haven’t tried them out yet, please do. They are so much fun. And if you haven’t switched to DuckDuckGo as a search engine then Try them out, Seriously. DuckDuckGo has a search plugin for Firefox and you can easily set search engine to DuckDuckGo to Chrome easily. Let us know what you think in the comments.

Pirate Search:

!tbp <keyword> : search for the keyword in ThePirateBay.
