Just type in "winver" command on your start search menu. The 1607 is the anniversary update from Windows. It will be different for other previous versions.

It sounds like a lot of people are having problems with their computers booting to BSOD after automatic repair fails. After research it sounds like this is a result of a recent optional update windows released. Can anyone confirm this? Is there anyway around this without reinstalling windows (and then reinstalling all programs)? For reference, safe mode does not work, sfc scannow does not work. Thanks

\Why is it so hard to get a product consumers clearly want? I get the impression that Microsoft doesn't really want average consumers using LTSC, which I understand. I imagine Microsoft is following modern mobile software giants and shifting from selling big box products to selling personal information and meta data along with smaller 'apps'(which seem to be somewhat feature lite when compared to the 'programs' of old). Wide adoption of something like that feels familiar, like old Windows (with no Cortona or Widows Store baked into everything), would greatly slow the transition and acceptance of their new platform, especially when you consider some of the more annoying aspects of that platform like live ads everywhere and automatic updates.
