Disable Ubuntu Hard disk health problems pop up
« on: Mar 28, 2012, 07:00 AM »
If you're having Ubuntu disk utility giving you error pop ups about your hard disk failing the S.M.A.R.T check. You need to backup your hard disk and plan to get a new one. But you can disable this annoying pop up from the disk utility.

Open up the Disk Utility.
Chose the Hard disk that has S.M.A.R.T check failures.
On the Smart Status you'll see red sign which means its having problem.
Below it you'll see a "View S.M.A.R.T data and run self test\s" button.
Click on that button which will open a new window.
On the left bottom of the window you will see a option "Don't warn if the disk is failing".
Check that option and close the window.
You will not be receiving the pop ups anymore.
Backup your data to a new drive as soon as possible.

Hope this helps.
