Introduction to Clicker Training

1. The clicker trained dog will be learn faster than the one that is not trained with a clicker because the behaviour and consequences are interlinked with the clicker. The clicker connects the two effects and the dog learns along the way as to how and why it can get a treat.

2. While you start there's always a chance that you miss the exact moment that the dog follows your direction. It's important that you follow up quickly with a treat to reward the behaviour. But normally the dog is quick to stand up, this breaks the connection. With a clicker the moment you see the dog sit, you can use the clicker. After a few tries the dog begins to understand that it has to stay to get a reward.

3. Click then treat, don't hastily treat your dog before you click.

4. Randomize treats so you don't give treats for every correct behaviour as you move through. It's good to do it early but as time passes on make sure the dog never knows when the gets a treat. Or use life rewards are better than treats like belly rub.

5. Train everywhere in or outside. Use better treats when you are outside because the environment is more destracting.

6. Training is everyday. Ask it do a good behaviour before you offer a treat. Because the learning is 24/7
