RDPWrap is a remote desktop wrapper application that enables remote desktop connection on a Windows Home release. One of the main differences between Windows Home and higher versions (Pro/Enterprise) are the ability to accept a remote connection. Most notebooks and laptops come with Windows home release.
If you are running a Windows Home release and want to connect to it through a remote desktop application, this application will bridge the gap.
The RDP wrapper application is simple to install. It includes an easy to install batch file which configures RDP service and starts listening on the standard RDP port, 3389. As soon as the configuration completes, you can use the configuration application RDPConf to check if the RDP is correctly configured.
Once everything is running correctly, you can try connecting to your device through a different machine. You can also use RDPCheck application supplied with RDPWrap files to connect locally. This tests the RDP internally, but you still might need to configure the firewall to allow incoming connections.
Now the only thing remaining is to test your connection with a different PC, phone or machine. The service keeps running on your background and should work anytime after you’ve shut down your computer.
