As we all know windows is one of the Operating systems that have been targeted by the virus, trojans, worms and malwares alike. This creates a great threat to the users using the operating system. But there are some simple tricks that will help you prevent your computer from being infected or your data being stolen or lost.
The first thing you have to do is never let flash drives or any other removable device without having any anti-virus softwares installed to check the drive. Most malwares and virus spread through these devices so be careful when you use them in your windows. Also you could stop autorun from running which are used by viruses and worms to spread.
You have to go to the Run command, Type in “gpedit.msc” and then it will take you to Group Policy Window. There at the left panel go to “Administrative Templates”. And click at “System”, then at the right pane search for “Turn off Autoplay”. Double click it and enable it and at the center pane enable it in all drives which will not let autorun run on any devices like CD, USB and prevent autorun virus from running.
Also if you are using internet daily you must have a secured browser like Mozilla and a Updated Antivirus. Try to find a free quality antivirus like Cloud Anti-virus, AVG Free or anyother and update them regularly. And when your are unsure if they are not keeping your computer safe try some new ones. And Mozilla is known be much safer than using IE because of IE’s many vulnerability that make it prone to attacks.
And do not download Applications that pressurize you to install them. They just might be some fake anti-virus application or a malicious program disguised to fool you to install it.
