Java, a programming language and a framework that allows programmers to build application that works across multiple operating system has been found vulnerable to 0-day exploit which leads systems with Java to exploitation and mischief from hackers. The US Department of Homeland Security has advised users to disable Java to prevent any hack attempts on their computers.
This warning is regardless to any Operating system or Browsers you use. Disable or uninstall the Java installation until a security fix is able to patch this vulnerability from Oracle.
The latest iteration of Java, Java 7 update 10 has been found vulnerable to 0-day exploit that can allow a remote, unauthenticated attacker to execute arbitrary code on a vulnerable system. Java is one of the most widely used and popular technical language from web application, desktop application to embedded systems.
If you have Java installed on your systems and don’t use it often you can remove the installation to prevent application initiate java themselves. If you don’t wish to uninstall Java make sure you enable Java is not allowed to access the web via Firewall software.
Oracle has confirmed the security vulnerability and is working on a fix. But the release date is still unknown.
